Another fun Angorapalooza is in the books! The scarves all turned out beautiful, the kids had a blast, people enjoyed learning about the process, more teams joined in this year, and the creativity, yet again, topped last year! So glad to see this addition to the farm show taking off!
Yesterday was a pretty exciting day as Madi and her friend, Caleb, participated in the inaugural Master Showman Competition at the PA State Farm Show! They both represented the rabbit department. As a part of the competition, they, along with the other champion showman from the other species, had to perform showmanship with beef steers, market lambs, swine, goats, and rabbits! It was a fun event to watch, the kids had a great time, and its a wonderful new addition to the Farm Show schedule! In the end, Madi placed 4th overall, which is something to really be proud of! Afterwards, we all raced over to the Large Arena to watch Madi do-si-do the night away in the annual Square Dancing Competition! Today is a more laid back day for her getting ready to gear up for tomorrow's Fleece to Shawl event!
Yesterday yes another exciting day at the PA Farm Show! It was a team effort, but we managed to qualify for the Angel food cake contest! After hours of laughs and cake decorating early in the morning this weekend, our cake managed to make the top 20 cut out of 107 cakes!! We were shocked! Tyler also took 1st place in the mixed hay class. Then, the girls held a bunny to scarf demonstration in the rabbit room along with some 4H friends and Ginger Snap the bunny, where they spun angora fiber and wove a scarf in about 2.5 hours! The last exciting event yesterday was the overall rabbit showman contest! Madi ended up taking overall rabbit showman and her buddy, Caleb, won Reserve! Both of them go on to compete in the Overall Master Showman in the Sale Arena later tonight! It's the first year they are holding this event, so just to have been selected to compete in the contest is pretty neat for Madi!
Today at the Farm Show was a busy day between demonstrations, Madi competing in rabbit showmanship, and a group presentation on all things rabbits on the Lancaster Farming Stage! We were all very excited for Madi because she placed 1st in the Senior Rabbit Showmanship category! The kids all worked together to present all things rabbits on the Lancaster Farming stage with a petting area, spinning angora fiber, answering questions, handing out rabbit jerkey, and more! What a fun day...we are looking forward to the rest of the Farm Show week!
