Farm Show 2017 is officially in the books, but it didn't end without an interesting opportunity for the Dauphin County 4-H kids... Disassembling the butter sculpture! Ever wonder what happens to all of that butter once the Farm Show is over?... Tune in tonight to channel 21news or read one of the pictures below! Thank you to everyone who volunteered, supported, participated, and/or visited this year! Until the next adventure...
This morning we attended the Farm Show Vendor Breakfast and what a surprise we had! This year we were honored to receive the "2017 Best Commercial Vendor with Sales" award! Congratulations to the other vendors and individuals who were also given these special honors! This has been an incredible Farm Show experience for our family and friends!
Posted by Ashley: What a whirlwind the past 24 hours have been! Yesterday was the Fleece to Shawl day where 6 teams competed, 3 of which were all kids from the 4-H Fiber Club that my mom leads! Representing the club were The Twisted Sisters with their theme of "New Blossoms," The Fibering Five with their coffee inspired shawl, and Fiber Frenzy with a 101 Dalmatian theme! After many months of planning themes, creating displays, coordinating practices, hand spinning warps, fixing equipment, dyeing the yarn, and creating beautiful practice shawls, it was time for the live event! My mom always tells the kids that their goal should be to work together to finish and to have fun... Anything else is a bonus and this year they had several bonuses! One youth donated her ewe's fleece which won Best Fleece! Madi received the weaving award! And overall, the kids all worked together to finish and were awarded Champion, Reserve Champion, and 3rd place teams! We couldn't be more excited for all of these kids!
Stay tuned for our interview about our Farm Show story within the hour...
Just finished our interview with WITF Smart Talk Radio live from the PA State Farm Show where we had the opportunity to tell "Our Story!" It will be posted later this afternoon on the WITF Smart Talk radio website.
Madi hand knit Angora boots from yarn from her rabbits, lined the boots with and Angora/Merino felted boot liner that she created in the mill, and attached a rubber sole to the boots! She also made a jams and jelly display... Both of which we were shocked to find in the Best In Show Display! |
